Liebster Award

Liebster Award

I want to thank Debra at C-Dog & Company for nominating me for this award. I am so honored and glad to except. I love her blog and enjoy reading about her family consisting of her husband and all her lovely animals. She has such good ideas and plenty of information. And she has cute drawings of her fuamily. I love her new experience with video making.  She is one of many followers that I feel I could call a friend. I like chatting back and forth with her. 🙂

Now to the questions:

1. Who has been your greatest influence?

That would have to be my husband. He has put up with a lot from me. I am not the easiest person to be around sometimes. I know he loves me for who I am. Not for what he can get from me, what he thinks I should be. And he keeps me on an even keel.  ❤

2. Who is your favorite author?

This is really hard to answer. I like so many books about a variety of things. I think I would have to say I like Dr. Seuss. He  made me laugh as a child and he was also there for my children. And I really like Beverly Lewis. She is a great Christian writer that writes about the Amish.

3. What is number one on your bucket list?

To go on an Alaskan cruise.

4. What is your favorite quote?

I really don’t know if this is a quote, but here it is anyway. For God so loved the world He gave His only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth  in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16 KJV

5. Why did you start a blog?

I started a blog because I have a hard time saying what I want to say to someone in person. I am a very frustrated person, and I hoped that by writing things down and keeping a sort of diary, and letting others comment on my blog, that I would feel better. And it does. It is a way of venting, and telling how I live and want to live. What my likes and dislikes are. Finding others that may agree, or disagree in a friendly manner. It makes me slow down and look at what I am saying, or trying to say, and put it in words that don’t sound mean, or hateful. I have a very big way of putting my foot in my mouth. Blogging has helped me with that. At least in writing. And it has led me to some very wonderful people from all over the world. And those who have like interests.

6. What is your best (most treasured) memory?

My wedding day to my very best friend. Although the reception was a bit of a blur. Meeting all the friends and family of my husband that I hadn’t met before and tried to remember. I can’t remember anything anyway!

7. If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be?

Right here on our farm in Northeast Kansas.

8. If you were an animal, what animal would you be and why?

Another tough one. I love horses and dogs, and just about any animal. I guess I would have to say a bird. I would love to be able to take off in flight and rise above all the tragedies, anger, heartache, troubles and look down on the beautiful earth from above, and really see what God has created. To listen to the silence and be at peace as I soared anywhere I wanted, see what I wanted to see and then come back home again. And do it again when I wanted.

9. What makes you happy?

Sitting on the porch with my husband in the porch swing and holding hands. Reading a good book. Riding my horse on a quiet calm day. Petting my horses, dogs and cats. Watching the Barn Swallows raising their babies on our back porch. Listening to the quietness of country living.

10. Do you have any advice for new bloggers?

Go for it. If you want to start, then start. Write about what makes you happy, sad, crafty or anything else that pops into your mind. Do be constantly aware of what information you are putting out there for the public to see. Think about how much real information you want out there. All, some or none. Make your blog private if you want to to get started. Then decide if it is for you and post what you have. Read other blogs to see what you may like.

11. What is something you wish people knew about you that they probably don’t?

I honestly don’t know how to answer this question. I have to leave this one alone. I hope that is okay. This one has me at a loss. I am me. That is all I can come up with.

11 Random facts about me:

1. I worked for Hallmark Cards Inc. 32 years

2. I have been married twice

3. I get along with my animals better than my children or family

4. I hate housework

5. I worked in a nursing home my senior year of High School

6. I grew up in a fairly large city, Topeka, Kansas

7. I survived the 1966 Tornado in Topeka, Kansas

8. I lived a year in San Antonio, Texas when my Step Father was stationed at Fort Sam Houston. My sophomore year

9. I never knew my Dad.

10. I have been to Disney Land in California, Sea World, Knots Berry Farm and the San Diego Zoo

11. I want to learn how to drive a horse and cart

  1. Congrats to you for all you do. Thanks for the award for friendly fairy tales, too. I don’t post about awards very often anymore, but I may get around to it, eventually. 🙂 Have a great week!

  2. Thanks so much for nominating me! 🙂

I am notoriously late in responding to awards mostly in part because I don’t write on a “regular schedule” secondly because I never know just what I’m going to write on until I get in front of the computer. I won’t dare admit just how behind I am but I your kindness and consideration are GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for blessing me. 🙂

  3. I don’t know about fascinating but it sure was terrifying! I don’t remember a whole lot about it. I was only ten. But I do know I don’t want to experience another one. 🙂

  4. Thank you. I was pleasantly surprised. I never figured my blog would be that interesting. It is a wonderful surprise. Helps my ego! 😀 Your blog is so interesting and I love all the bunnies and shawls you make. And the English countryside. I still need to get my scarf onto a post that I wove on the Cricket Loom. These last few months have been so hectic for me. I am trying to keep things on a slow and even keel this month. So far so good. Mostly anyway. 🙂

  5. Don’t feel bad. This is actually my second big award and I never got around to doing anything with the first one. The Liebster award was given to me last month and I just now got something done with it. I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to do at first. I was nervous about it, but I got it done. And I do like your blog. I don’t always get to all of them, but the ones I do read always seem to come at the right time and always have something to say to me or my situation at hand. I always need some prayer or thoughts of comfort and you posts are there. Thank you. 🙂

  8. True, I was really surprised and happy when I was starting out. I never expected to spend so much time blogging. It’s like visiting the water cooler and catching up with colleagues. But time to get back to work now! LOL
