Sandy’s First Hair Cut of the Season

It is that time of the year when I get Sandy to the groomers and get her first hair cut of the season. She is half Yorkie and half miniature American Eskimo. This gives her a double coat. The Yorkie and the Eskimo. Sandy has the Yorkie hair and the Miniature Eskimo size. The under coat gets really thick and I think that comes from the Eskimo.

The groomer said she tried a size seven blade and it looked like an ocean wave. She called me to see what I wanted her to do. She had a size ten and it would be close. She would have used an eight or nine, but they were off being sharpened. The next time she will use one of those. I don’t know much about clippers. I don’t use them. But her hair will grow back. She does fine in the winter with her long heavy hair, but the summers can get pretty hard on her sometimes.  She looks a little funny, but she wants to cuddle more now. I like that. When she starts to grow out she will look like a little fox. On time I had taken her to the zoo with us after one of her hair cuts and a little boy asked if she was my pet fox. I thought that was cute.

Have a great evening and a wonderful Mother’s Day.

Stay Safe and God Bless!

  1. No. Never! They are all so neglected. 😀 She is pretty much one of the queen dogs. It can be pretty hairy when her and Sasha get into it over who is boss. Hope you have a wonderful Mother’s Day.

  2. Thank you. She is a keeper. The only trouble now is that it was warm and humid when she got the hair cut. Then it cooled off and dropped into the 50s and will be in the 60s today. Poor thing is shivering now. It is nice to let her cuddle up with us and a light blanket. 🙂
