Yes, I know Easter was about a month ago. I am late in getting this post on. Since Hubby has been re-retired from his part time job, we have been busy, lazy and really making things up as we go along. Some days I was a little depressed and just too tired and lazy to do anything. Unfortunately I have a lot of those days.
So on Easter, Hubby and I, Mom, Son, Granddaughter and her Mom(my daughter) got together for brunch and then went to the Topeka Zoo. None of us has been there for quite awhile. I took several videos and we had a good day. And you even get to hear me snap at my Son. 🙂 The one on the train is pretty long. About 11 minutes. The post is pretty long, but I hope you will wade through it and enjoy.
It was a pretty day and the Bradford Pears were all in bloom with their pretty white flowers. Granddaughter and her Mom was in the first car right behind the engine. It is pretty noisy and we didn’t want sit there, so we are one or two cars back. I think Son is on the train too, and Mom can’t get into the cars any more. They are small. cramped and hard to get in and out of. She has degenerative arthritis and two bad knees. One she has had knee surgery on several years back and one she may need surgery on at some point. It was hard for us to get in and out of.
Most of the stone animals and the boat are in the same spots as when I was a kid. The boat had real water surrounding it then. Now it is filled in. It never was very deep. The animals were in small cages then, but they have made many improvements to the enclosures for the animals and displays now. And they are always looking for things to add to and make it better.
We have even had three tiger cubs that were born at the zoo. They are not very small now, and a baby Hippo that is I think about three or four years old now.
The Orangutans were being silly that day. One of them is the newest baby.
My son being the Ranger.
This is Tiffany, our only Gorilla right now. She is 46.
Part of the Hippo pool.
These next pictures were taken inside and outside the Rain Forest. Two of the videos were taken inside of here.
There are two parrots in these pictures. You may have to click on the pictures to make them bigger to see them.
I even got a picture of a squirrel that was visiting the zoo.
I hope you have enjoyed our zoo journey. If you ever get to Topeka, Kansas to see our zoo, or anything else, shoot me an email and I will come to meet you. Have a great weekend. 🙂
Stay Safe and God Bless!
❤
Love it! But then I am like you, loving all of God’s creatures. He made them all and gave them each a purpose.
Caught the parrots in the tree. Beautiful birds!
What was the dispensary cabinet? Were they marking time of past events, or was it a snack bar of sorts?

I should have gotten a closer picture of the sign. It was telling about all the products made from things in the rainforests. Most companies don’t care about destroying the rainforests, and therefore the wildlife that lives there. Some companies are more caring and use things like palm oil from sustainable rainforests. Or they make sure the trees are replaced instead of just burnt down. Something like that. I can’t remember exactly what all it said. And they are name brand companies.
